Our newest piece of equipment at AOSC is the laser engraver!

With it, the time to actually engrave a draw knob head is reduced from 4.5 minutes (on the rotary engraver) to 47 seconds! Of course, that depends on the text, font and symbols.

The engraver uses CorelDRAW® to layout and control the machine. CorelDRAW® accepts TrueType fonts, so we can engrave in many different fonts and our popular standard block and Roman fonts in condensed, bold, and italic styles. We are discovering more uses for this machine all the time.

We have engraved control panels, builder’s plates, drawknob inserts, stop tabs and other parts. We have even engraved on celluloid tabs with this new apparatus.

Our computerized rotary engraver is still available for those specialized projects where we are engraving matching parts on nonlaserable materials.
